The product group ‘bed mattresses’ shall comprise:
bed mattresses, which are defined as products that provide a surface to sleep or rest upon for indoor use. The products consist of a cloth cover that is filled with materials, and that can be placed on an existing supporting bed structure;
the materials filling the bed mattresses, which may include: latex form, polyurethane foam and springs;
wooden bed bases that support the bed mattresses.
Te product group shall include spring mattresses, which are defined as an upholstered bed base consisting of springs, topped with fillings, as well as mattresses fitted with removable and/or washable covers.
The product group shall not comprise inflatable mattresses and water mattresses, as well as mattresses classified under Council Directive 93/42/EEC ( 1 ).
